Why it's so difficult to maintain your healthy rhythm during the holidays (+ tips to keep your energy high)

Summer beckons. You can feel it in everything: long days, sun on your skin, and maybe a holiday ahead. Fantastic of course – and much needed. But if you had just as nice a flow with your daily rhythm, healthy meals and a pilates moment for yourself... Then it can suddenly feel like everything is in jeopardy.

Recognizable? You're not alone.

At The Energy Boutique we see it every year: in June still full of energy and focus, but in July and August we struggle with good habits. And that's not surprising. Holidays are relaxation, spontaneity, letting go – but that doesn't mean you have to let yourself go completely.

Let's first dive into why it's so difficult – and then I'll give you 5 powerful tips to get through the summer feeling relaxed and energetic.

Why your healthy rhythm falters in summer

  1. Structure falls away
Work, school, fixed sports moments: they automatically give your week a rhythm. When that structure disappears, it quickly feels like 'free time', and with it your healthy habits fade away.
  2. More social temptations
Terraces, barbecues, holidays with ice creams and rosé... It's fun, but it also challenges you to say no if you actually want to say yes to your health.
  3. "I'll pick it up again after the summer"
That sentence, which seems so innocent, is the highway to postponement mode. While a little regularity helps you to stay comfortable in your own skin.

How do you stay in your flow? 5 tips to keep your energy and habits summery

1. Think in rituals, not rules
No rigid to-do's, but small rituals: a morning walk, stretching with a podcast, or drinking a glass of water before you have coffee. It feels less 'must' and still gives you something to hold on to.

2. Choose your anchoring habits
What are the 1 or 2 things that give you the most energy? Is it Pilates? Green smoothies? Going to bed on time? Choose your anchors and stick to them – even on holiday.

3. Get creative with movement
No studio nearby? No problem. Use a towel as a mat or a staircase as a cardio tool. Small exercise is better than nothing at all. And above all, walk every day.

4. Forget all-or-nothing. Think: all-or-something. Half a class of Pilates is better than no class. A salad with the BBQ is a win. Drink enough water between wines? Great! Small choices, big impact.

5. Let 'healthy' go hand in hand with enjoyment
Healthy living doesn't have to ruin a party. For example, make a summer bowl with seasonal fruit or take a moment of rest and do a mini-meditation on your towel.
